Elderberry
Latin name: Sambucus nigra ssp. canadensis
Uses: Edible, Medicinal, Dye

Elderberry is fast-growing superfood rich in antioxidants due to its high content of polyphenols. The berries and flowers are both edible, and the berries are particularly renowned for their health benefits - one of the highest concentrations of vitamin C in any fruit.
The berries can be used to make jellies, jams, syrup, juice, and fruit bars. They must be cooked. In their raw state, the berries, as well the bark, branches and leaves are toxic to humans and pets.
Plant two different cultivars for better fruit yields. We are currently offering Wyldewood and Bob Gordon. Orders will be an even mix of the two cultivars unless specified otherwise.
